Agni theertham is considered to be the first water body that is situated outside the premises of Sri Ramanathaswamy temple. Jada Theertham, one of the holy destinations is located at about 3.5 kms from Rameswaram. It is said that Sri Rama worshipped Sri Ramalinga on his return after killing Ravana. Before starting his worship, he washed his Jada (hair) to purify himself in this theertham.
